I’m reading the Show Of Hands novel at the moment; and am dumbfounded to read that the story takes place in London! How obserd!
The book is published here in New Zealand, by a New Zealand company, written by a New Zealand writer (Anthony McCarten) who also directed the film – which was filmed here in New Zealand.
The story is based on a true event – which took place in Lower Hutt, New Zealand in the 1980’s.
Yet the story in the book is in London. With pounds instead of dollars.
What’s going on here?!
I understand Anthony’s lived in England, but still….it wouldn’t have hurt to at least have the book based in New Zealand like the film, like the “true event”.
