CHARITY SINGALONG: Suzanne Prentice leads Taranaki school children in World Vision’s Kids For Kids Christmas Tour.
The concert was the first of three to be held at New Plymouth’s TSB Showplace as a fundraiser for World Vision child sponsorship. Concert manager Russel Johnson said the concerts had been a hit with the children.
“The teachers love it, the children love it and the music teachers preparing the children’s choirs with have responded with absolute enthusiasm.” he said.
There have been 21 concerts this year, with 377 children sponsored at the events
About 15,000 children will have taken part in the concerts in the South Island and lower North Island by the end of this year.
Ms Prentice, who has done more than 350 of the performances in the past 10 years, said she still really enjoyed them.
“They really build the children’s self-esteem and it’s just wonderful seeing the kids enjoying themselves so much though something so simple as music and song.” she said.
“It’s really nice to be part of something that gives back to children.”
The final two concerts are at 7.30 tonight and on Monday.
